Tele visions

Take a quick look at this quintet or Telecasters from Fender and Squier. Prices vary from RRP $1,599 down to RRP $699 though allow a few percent off these prices for the 'street' price. This isn't strictly a comparison but more an observation on how these instruments feel, the build quality, the sound and the features. So without further a do..

American Special Telecaster®
This is the most expensive of the five and justifiably so. This comes out of the same shop as the American Fenders and the guys that assemble these share the canteen with the Fender Custom Shop master builders. This is a repaint of the popular Highway One series, alder body in either white or three tone sunburst. A one piece maple neck finished in satin poly making for a slick feel. Not my cup of tea but someone will love the clunky jumbo frets. It's fitted with the now famous Texas Special pickups for that tubby Tele tone.

Jensen buttons up the GP opener

Lewis catches up on 'Days Of Our Lives'
The long awaited season opener has been run and won by two time Aussie GP winner Jensen of the Buttons. So that's three wins at Albert Park for Jensen. I just love his 'steady as she goes' driving style, it's seems so.. so British and reminds me of Damon Hill's fast but very cool style behind the wheel. The straight line speed advantage of the Mercedes didn't work out for them which took some spice out of the race. Australia's Mark Webber forgot to top up the KERS before he left the garage but did manage the next best thing to a podium, fourth. Seb out-smarted Lewis and split the McLaren's. Maldonado bullied his way through the field taking out Grojean on his way. This guy is dangerous. Unfortunately Kimi had some melting moments in qualifying that started him back on the grid but he did get the old Renault fired up picking up quite a few places. I think the Renault/Lotus will be in there within a couple more races. Apart from Shuey and Nico having the DSR advantage if they all can keep the back wheels on the ground we should be in for a good season.

From time to time one stumbles across some pretty innovative guitar accessories and the Drapester is definitely one of them. The great thing about the mighty US of A with it's 300 gazillion populous, there is always a market to sell anything. Remember those ads in the back pages of Popular Mechanics? The tutorial video on how to use the Drapester is a cracker and a must see.. amazing.

"Our" Fender at last.

Finally !!
The Fender Musical Instrument Company have announced they are going 'public' and we can all have our own little slice. The initial float is 200 million big ones of which a 100 will go towards paying down their 240 million dollar debt. All I can say is thank heavens for recent Fender abusers Bruno Mars and Shakira. Read all about it and take a punt here..
