The big red car comes to Daytona

Nice paint !!
Holden is to take on the American muscle with a US made Commodore SS, albeit re badged to a Chevrolet SS (super sport). The old dunny door will be seen on the streets plus and a big PLUS for race fans.. they will run a version in NASCAR making its debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 race next February.
Let's hope the Yanks take to it a little more than the short lived Pontiac version of a few years back. Read all about it here..

R.I.P. Duck

The young Duck
It's a sad farewell to Donald 'Duck' Dunn yesterday. Steve Cropper wrote.. Today I lost my best friend, the world has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live. Duck Dunn died in his sleep Sunday morning in Tokyo Japan after finishing 2 shows at the Blue Note Night Club.

Thanks Duck for the music and your inspiration.

Spain, could this be the one?

See, I'm really determined.
The Ice Man cometh (again) and this time with a warning.. "I am feeling good and all I want to do now is to race and to win," he warned. "The car feels good everywhere we've been so far so that is the target for me and for the team. We want to win grands prix - we have a good car and we saw in Bahrain that it is good enough to win."
No excuses now Kimi, you know what all the buttons do now.

Love it or hate it?

Black, Sunburst or Pink, this one is the sweetest.
I think the desigeners at Fender should really have their crayons taken off them. This is just one of the latest offerings from the Japanese made Pawn Shop series. Luckily it does come in other colours besides candy floss pink but if you really want to stand out in the crowd then this one is the bomb.

One for the lefties?
We all know how much fun the old Firebird bass was but I don't really see bass players going ape over these things somehow. You would need to be an ape to reach the tuners.

'Guitars that never were, but should have been' is the Pawn Shop series slogan. If Leo knew this he'd be rolling over Beethoven.

Is virtual getting real ??

The Roland/Fender G5
Racing has been coming at us thick and fast albeit a little lack luster and predictable so I shall put racing aside for a while and talk guitars.
Straight off the line is the re-release of the Roland/Fender joint venture G5-VG Stratocaster. The original VG Strat which passed through in 2007 I suspect was a joint venture between Fender and Roland (in that order). This issue was based on an American Standard Strat. The current re-release is built on the cheaper Mexican Standard Strat so in my cynical mind this sounds like Roland has commissioned Fender to fit their left over V-Guitar bits into a cheap Mexi STD. I see this as a Roland/Fender venture particularly when the guitar will be marketed by Roland and not by Fender.
