Racing is underway at Albert Park. Esteban got off to a steady start and not that far behind his team mate Perez. Practice 1 and both Esteban and Perez put in 29 laps to give their pinkie's maximum exposure. In fact they completed the highest number of laps of anyone.
As expected Lewis recorded the quickest time. Esteban only managed 16th quickest 3.5 seconds off Lewis' pace but for a newbie he kept it out of the kitty litter and gave his team some good numbers to get the weekend under way.
Practice 2 and the times went down a notch and the speed went up, The track surface would have cooled a little. Lewis once again topped the time sheet and the two Merc's and Ferrari's took the top four spots followed by the Red Bull's. Could this be a sign of the season to come? Esteban timed a little higher in 13th and actually gained a second on Lewis. This session he gave his team 37 laps of important info, more that any other driver. One more practice then qualifying. With a good starting position on Sunday Esteban may just collect his first series points.
