Hail Hail Chuck Berry

Sad news, particularly for guitarists around the world. On Saturday 18/03/17 an elderly gent was found unresponsive to medical care and pronounced dead in the St Louis home of Charles Edward Berry at 12.40pm. Chuck was aged 90.
Chuck provided millions of his fans with great joy through out his music filled career from the early '50's right through to yesterday. The legend will live on forever in his classic recordings. I was privileged to tour and play (bass) in six concerts around New Zealand in what I believe was Chuck's hey day in the mid 1970's. It was a career highlight for me and with a little Look-Listen-Learn it was an education second to none. Bruce Springsteen was straight on the Twaddler and had this to say..>> Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock 'n' roll writer who ever lived.<< Yes Bruce, but we all knew that. I said to Chuck in the plane on the way back to Auckland at the end of the tour.. "It was great to play your songs".. to which he replied.. "I'll play with you guys anytime". I was chuffed. I don't get to talk to rock'n'roll pioneer's very often. R.I.P Chuck Berry.
