Poll's: Fact or Fiction?

Any ideas on 23Red Racing?
We have watched politicians loose their seats based on what poll results show us. These poll results can sway an election result. But here is a poll recently run on a motorsport web site that I think shows us poll's can be way off the facts.

Team Erebus has topped this poll for these past few days and by miles. Fans and friends of the team have been clicking their little fingers off and have them at 40% in a choice of the ten teams listed.

Triple Eight with Shane winning both race days and sticking the #97 on pole for Race 1. Okay, J-Dub only qualified 9th for Race 1 but was recovering from a total rebuild from a Turn 8 crash on the Friday. In itself, not a bad 'team' effort. Jamie made amends in the Top 10 Shoot Out to start second alongside Shane for Race 1.

The Triple Eight fans don't need a poll to know they're the best team so not much point in going clicky-crazy in an Internet poll. Could this be the reason Erebus did so well?

So how well did Team Erebus really do to achieve 40%, over double the vote for Triple Eight? Qualy 1 saw Reynolds qualify in the top ten in P5. The other Erebus car of Anton de Pasquale qualified in P21. Reynolds made one spot to start Race 1 from G4 (Grid four). Let's look at the race.

Shane won from pole and Reynolds finished in where he started, P4. Jamie brought his slightly crippled car home in 6th, dropping one place. Anton for Erebus gained two positions to finish in 19th.
Bare with me for Race 2. Shane Q2, Jamie Q3, Davey Reynolds Q6 and Anton way down in Q19. The T10 Shoot Out changed the grid slightly with Shane G1, Jamie G2, Davey G4.
It wasn't a good result for 888 and Jamie Whincup as he only managed thirty laps before his Friday practice injury brought him down but IMO the 'team' did a remarkable job for Jamie's efforts. After all, this was what this Poll was about.. who was the most impressive team? Oh, and not to mention the $3000 fine for Erebus and a loss of 30 team points for a fuel filling incident and Davey not managing to hold P1 as he left pit lane at his final pit stop.

So just which team was the most impressive over the weekend. Was it really Team Erebus who polled an overall 40% of the vote or Triple Eight for their effort who only received 18%. Or is the poll result way wrong and Walkinshaw Andretti United should have polled better considering how Courtney went or Garth for Garry Rogers Motorsport? Poll's: hopefully no one lost their seat.
