I'm not sure if Jamie is just playing the game or if he really thinks the new cars are needing a bit more of a shake down. There are silly things us race fans don't think about like.. will the panels stay fixed to the car and stand a bit of biff and barge in the heat of battle. In testing there was an issue with the front spoiler. I'm not sure what it was, either too much downforce or worse, the lift sent the car into a wheelie.
The new Commodore body will run with the trusty 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 under the bonnet, with a twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 version racing at select wildcard rounds. The turbocharged V6 engine will be put into the factory-backed Red Bull cars for a full season starting in 2019.
Most of the field have been re-stickered so it will take a couple of races to get familiar with the teams and who are behind the wheel. From what I have read it would seem the Nissan team are ready for business and have been told to produce this year, Simona de Silvestro got to show us what she is made of at last years final and we're looking forward to watching her perform in Adelaide against the un-proven Commodore's. Regardless of what the Adelaide 500 results will be I'm pretty certain that the top five finishers in last seasons championship with all be in this seasons top five come Newcastle at the end of the year.
Do I see a dark horse? Well as much as I hear fighting words from Lowndesy, Frosty, Tander, Gizzy (who seems to over commit himself), Chaz with a Z who is either up the front or down the back, I think the dark horse may just be Davey Reynolds for Erebus Motosport in one of the new Holden ZB Commodore's. That's if the super glue holds.
