The heavy metal rumbles at Daytona

Looks a good 200mph to me.
First out of the blocks for season 2018 are the mighty NASCAR's in what is their regular season starter.. the Daytona 500. The field is now set with Alex Bowman planting his big ol' Chevy on pole for Hendrick Motorsport.
Pole isn't any great advantage at Daytona considering the race is over five hundred miles, Geeez! that's half way to Sydney without a cuppa tea stop. I guess the real advantage in starting off the front is you probably get to miss the mid field carnage that always seems to happen as tyres get to temp and drivers settle in.
As this is the first race of the series getting the big points in the bag early is pretty important so who knows who will take the booty in this years '500. Perhaps one of the Busch lads or one of the four Hendrick Motorsport entries. My eyes will be on our EGRC gal from yesteryear, Danica Patrick.
