Happy Easter (trail)

It's wind down time for the sprintcar season and time once again for the annual 'Easter Sprintcar Trail'. When I was a lad just a few years ago we would follow the racing on Easter weekend, pitching our tent in the car park and freezing our butts off. It was huge fun. These days it's a matter of logging in to Speed Hive and a little reading.

Clicky the READ MORE link for how the 2018 Easter Trail panned out.

Leo, we are so sorry.

And what universe would this be parallel to?
I thought being on an acid trip was so 60's and a thing of the past by the 70's? Obviously not. This is what Fender think about this monstrosity.. The limited-edition Jaguar Strat will make jaws drop when it turns up in the spotlight. It sure will Fender.

Race One: run and won

That was the first I'd heard that the tyres from Qualy 2 were what the cars started the race on. Are Pirelli running the show? Rules, rules and more rules. Yep Hairy Dan copped a speeding-under-red penalty and fair enough but then did the team make the right tyre choice in Q2?

The Thong thang

Insect?
Just minutes away from the first practice session at Albert and the thongs have thrown a spanner in the works. The drivers have decided they can no longer see the START lights clearly through the thong which could throw the get-away into chaos. So the director of racing, Charlie Whiting has decided to lower the light gantry and not only at Albert Park but every track on the circuit.

Fernando, we're with you.

How can the mighty McLaren be so dam corny?
Just a couple of days to go and we have the start of the 2018 Rolex Australian Grand Prix and the start of a new championship season. Are we excited? Hell yeah!!. But hang on, will it just be the same old same old? Mercedes v's Red Bull v's Ferrari or will we see another team join the fray?

The revitalisation of the Bigsby.

In the 50's it was 'the' vibrato then for some unknown reason it disappeared for a while. This may well have been due to patent reasons or simply because Jimi Hendrix came along? Vibrato's, or tremolo's as Leo called them (but that's for another blog) were designed as a pitch altering device to emulate the pleasing sound of the Hawaiian laps steel guitar.

Poll's: Fact or Fiction?

Any ideas on 23Red Racing?
We have watched politicians loose their seats based on what poll results show us. These poll results can sway an election result. But here is a poll recently run on a motorsport web site that I think shows us poll's can be way off the facts.

No bull from Red Bull.

"I drive the #97 Red Bull Holden."
Races one and two are done, dusted and penalties awarded for the Adelaide 500, not the Clipsal 500 as Scotty had thought. Shane Van Gizbergenhof comfortably won both the Saturday and Sunday races which in fact saw some pretty good racing all the way down the field considering we had fourteen new Holden Commodore's un-tried and un-proven. We did loose J-Dub to rear end failure early on in Sunday's race and we lost Scott McLaughlin to a puncture which took a little of the excitement away.
