F1.. fun and games?

Same circus, different clowns.
Is Formula 1 the most expensive sport there is? Most teams employ hundreds, many hundreds of mechanics, tyre changers, designers and computer nerds so there are a few million in wages, not to mention the aerodynamicists, or the guys that brew up the fuel. Each team would have a budget in excess of what the Melbourne City Council has. So why is it that Red Bull employ a couple of crazy go-kart drivers?

The do-or-die Mad Max Verstappen and Hairy Dan, the overtaker, that's if he doesn't crash while attempting one of his a dive bomber passes.

Team boss and Spice Girl husband Christian Horner must have sleepless night wondering what these guys will get up to next. I think Dan should be talking to Ferrari NOW about a ride in 2019 before someone else snaps it up.

Daniel may be our local boy but he is on the world stage and needs to show us more than his smile.

Max out-qualified Dan in Australia but spun himself into a sixth place finish two spots behind Dan. At Bahrain he qualied in fifth behind the fast-four and Max had issues to qualify in fifteenth. Ouch! Both cowboys fell of their horses and recorded DNF's. Max out qualified Dan again in China where Dan got lucky with a win however Max fell back 20 seconds to finish in fifth. Azerbaijan and Dan managed to qualify a tad quicker than Max but Hairy Dan took himself and Max out after thirty nine laps in a Kamikazi move reminding us of their karting days when they weren't racing for someone else's sheep station. Which brings us to Spain. Max again pedalled a little harder in qualifying taking P5 behind the fast four with Dan to start outa P6. Even though Dan put out the call requesting passing permission to overtake Max (as he figured he was in the faster car), it didn't happen and Max stood on the podium with a third place finish, Dan only managed a fifth some twenty odd seconds behind the big red car of Vettel.

There yer go,, just who is the number uno driver at Red Bull? Who should be thinking about a Ferrari deal? Will Christian eventually get a good nights sleep? Can Red Bull get better value for the dollar from these two? Roll on Monaco.
