The Bend

The thought even gives me the bends.

The Bend or the Bends, there's plenty of them, or the bends, the decompression sickness, take your pick. This is the new South Australian race track built at Tailem Bend where much racing will take place and hopefully they will get full houses every race day. It is located a 100k south east of Adelaide and about a six hour drive from Melbourne.
With the 'Bend's township having a population of only 1600 (plus a few dogs) they will be relying on the Adelaide race fans to drive the 100k. As squiggly as the track appears it hasn't been built to F1 standards so the best we will see there are the tin-tops, perhaps the F3's and they are hoping to attract the Moto GP lads for a round next year or perhaps the awesome GT's.

There has been a few sneaky goings-on with some of the Supercar drivers jumping into the Dunlop series cars on their practice day to 'learn' the track. Of course they can't roll out their race cars, that would be cheating.

So next week we will get to see a few off-track excursions at the inaugural Supercar race at The Bend. I can't wait to watch the delayed highlights package. C'mon Supercars.. not everyone has Foxtel.
