Superloop 500 - run, done, won.

Scotty Mc checks the wind direction before he hits the track.
It only seemed like the other weekend when we saw the Supercars battling it out on the streets of Newcastle. This weekend we're in Adelaide for the Superloop 500.

WSS - Grand Final

J-Mac in action in the #17 car.
Thanks to Corey Gibson for the wonderful pic.
After fourteen races around the length and breadth of Australia The World Series Sprintcar series culminates in Western Australia at the large 500 metre Perth Motorplex clay way. There are just two possible contenders to take the 2019/20 championship, our very own James McFadden and Sydney sider and now US based Kerry Madsen or as we affectionately know him.. The Madman.

What's next.. Four and Twenty?

Holden missed the boat with this beauty.

Feast your eyes on this thing. Are you looking at the new BMW Commodore? Wouldn't this be one for the history books. They did it with the mighty Mini, why not?

Seventy two years of the government propping up Holden to have General Motors (US) wipe it away with the swish of a finger. Well that's business I suppose, it's a harsh dog eat dog world we live in.
Of course the departure of a brand has thrown Supercars into turmoil. Fans are taking the demise of Holden as if they hadn't seen it coming, shock horror. Life long Holden fans where Holden has been in their families for generations. Lifeline 13 11 14.

We revisit November 2011

For those of you that can't get enough I have decided to make it a monthly feature to revisit some of my older blogs.

Up first is from November 2011 where I get to ramble on about the success of Seb Vettel, where our Mark Weber collected a trophy for having the most fastest laps in the 2011 F1 season and the legendary Tony Stewart was making waves in NASCAR.

In Electric Guitars you can check out Richard Gere's guitar collection and feast your eyes on the True Temperament replacement guitar neck for those that are at the point of going crazy with tuning issues (like me).

All that and more you will find in my November 2011 blogs. Hope you like it.

Motorcade maddness.

Is this a vote grabbing exercise? Unfortunately Donny didn't bring the weather with him as the race has been postponed 'till Monday. The question is.. will we be seeing Scotty (from marketing) show up at the VASC - Superloop Adelaide 500 on the weekend?

Kick-off, just days away

So trapesing though the motor sport news these past few days, in both F1 and Supercars the big news has been liveries. Yep, liveries. Well we all like to see a good looking race car but the not so stupid of us know that liveries are really about sponsors and sticky vinyl. Do we really have to have all this un-boxing of race car videos when we're really only interested in the red cars?

Investigations pending

No, I missed that one Bob, better throw the yellow.
Here's an important post from the 2019 12 hour Bathurst race that somehow I missed posting before my extended holiday. Crashes are a major safety issue (oh really??) and it's the communications between the race director and the flag marshal's that can prevent much of these spills. The 2020 12hr has been won and run with no really bad incidents but there are still arguments whether or not in car yellow lights will be the answer particularly at a long track like the mountain. Read on..

From last years Bathurst 12 hr.

And on and on it goes. Yes, it was a big crash a few weeks back at the Bathurst 12 hour GT race, in fact it was rather sickening to watch. When you can see a crash about to happen it usually sets the queasy gland firing. No doubt there are dozens of YouTube re-runs if you haven't seen the crash but be warned.

The new guitar player

Today's lesson.
There is a new guitar player in town.. the texture guitarist. The lead and rhythm guitarists of yester-year have long since left the band. Have you noticed most new bands will have a guitarist standing up the back that often doubles on keyboards, well this is the texture guy.

Notice the similarities?

I cast my eyes over this magnificent beast last week and my first thought was.. three pickup Les Paul Custom with trem in foggy white. The closest picture I could find was this 1963 Les Paul SG Custom Reissue w/ Maestro Vibrola in- Classic White.

He said he would be back.

We welcome back Dave after an extended break, well deserved I might add. In fact, it is me Dave and I haven't been on holiday. The truth is I got a little bored with guitars and racing cars through 2019. It was dull for guitar news and dull for car racing. Guitars were out of control, well in the big league Fender and Gibson anyway. More Strat's and Tele's as they fill their containers with short runs of yet more flavours. Gibson were equally inventive with Les Paul's hitting an all time high in the variety of Les Paul models.
