The first of the sim challenges.

The first of the racing simulator challenges kicked off at 7am for Scotty McLaughlin Aussie time this morning. I didn't make it for the live broadcast but did watch it on replay on the 'Tube. Check it out here.. https://youtu.be/bA00Yj-7ftw

It was great to see the 'real' IndyCar drivers taking things so serious. I believe there are five races in the series. Round 1 was at my sim favourite, the only sim win I have had, the famed Watkins Glen. Next weekend the circus rolls into the Skip Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
McLaughlin was making his IndyCar debut albeit on the iRacing sim platform however he was mixing it with the hard and fast IndyCar drivers. Many of the drivers have had iRacing experience which really showed but we sure to be seeing improvements in the rookies in the coming events.
Sage on his winning way.
The Round 1 win went to Sage Karam, a newcomer to the 'real' Indycar series but a multi winner in the virtual world of racing. Felix Rosenqvist, also an IndyCar newbie all the vay from Sveden was to finish in second just 3.5 seconds behind Sage after 45 laps of the Glen. The race was to be 45 laps or 70 minutes, whatever happened first. There were no cautions which was probably just as well and as the field were running under a fixed setup, same for all, it really came down to the driving. Our two times Supercar champ Scott McLaughlin was to finish in fourth place some 48 seconds behind Aussie Will Power in third. Quite an achievement for Scotty who is only a casual sim racer. Only seven cars were to finish on the lead lap.
I'm sure McLaughlin is a New Zealander??
So the IndyCar simulation series will be a great boost for the sim scene and 'real' drivers from most racing divisions. iRacing will host the IndyCar series, the Supercar series, the World Of Outlaws series and Codemasters will be hosting Lewis and his mates at the up coming Formula One sim series. Can't wait.
