We're all men but..

Seb and Blingy spill the words at the after-race press party. It wasn't me and it wasn't me. For a change it was good to see some tension and not just all the plastic that is F1. With all the chaos young Esteban walked away with sixth place points and sitting eighth in the championship.

Slippin' And A Slidin'.

A champ in the making.
Pirelli get it wrong again. Drivers are all having trouble getting to grips (literally) with the surface at Azerbaijan this weekend. Bling boy HAM44 is suggesting the softs are tooo hard. After an off in P1 teenager mighty Max Verstappen posted the fastest time followed by his team mate, our Dan the Man, for an RB one two. It was the Red Bull's again in P2 only to be split by Bottas and where was Lewis? I had to scroll the page to find him in tenth. So much for talent? Ice Man Kimi, use to a bit of sliding, was fourth quickest just a cough ahead of the other prancing horse. It was a good showing for the Pinkies comfortably in the top ten although Serg stuck his in the wall giving the lads back in the garage some overtime. Looking forward to the race and to see what Pirelli can do about car HAM44's tyres. Soak them in Hugo Boss after-shave overnight eh Lewis?

The future of motorsport

Oh Dear?
Could this be what we have around the corner? A top secret test happened this week at the mountain, that's Mount Panorama in Bathurst. As quoted in the news.. The main purpose of this full-throttle attack on Bathurst was to calibrate the car’s MoTeC dash unit, and Hyundai put local rally ace Brendan Reeves behind the wheel to do so. Yes that's right, the mighty Hyundai N (for Norman) and heavily disguised as a Hyundai so you wouldn't notice. The article went on to provide us a link to the awesome sound the 'N makes. It certainly scared the kangaroo's shiteless. Fart box racing, love it.

Supercars not as super as thought.

Ooops! Distracted by the grid girl.
Unfortunately I never had my offer accepted to buy in to the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship. The big pocket buyers who included Sports Entertainment Limited and TEG, owners of Ticketek couldn't come up with the dosh.

Go the pinkies ! !

The boys duke it out in a game of one a side.
A great race tonight, well by Formula 1 standards anyway. Hairy Dan put up a great battle to stave off the pinkie boys in the closing laps.

You read it here first back in March.

Fingerboards of the future.
Fender have finally jumped.  In January the CITES law came into force, putting restrictions on how rosewood is traded across international borders.

The Box Of Doom.. really?

Well, I'll be doomed.
It doesn't seem to matter if it's electric guitars or if it's racing cars, there is always something comes along that is really really crazy. I stumbled on this, it's The Box Of Doom. So do you climb in it, they close the lid and you bash your head against the walls? But, it is in fact an isolation box. Okay, so if you're just tooo dam loud for your band mates they make you get in there with your Marshall stack and Flying V and go crazy. Either way you're doomed. In actual fact the BoD is an illusion. It's nothing more than a fruit box with a speaker in one end and a microphone in the other to which you plug into your amp top.. and go crazy. It even comes in three flavours, the BoD basic, the Pro and the Pro XL. The basic and the ProXL will give you a whole 27db of reduction while the Pro is even less painful with a 29db reduction. The manufactures claim it's.. "The best isolation cabinet you can wish for. Silent, compact and a killer sound." So it kills your sound? I feel well and truly doooomed. So is a box the size of a single speaker going to sound like your Marshall stack cranked to the full a twenty paces? I think it's only going to sound like a speaker in a 12x12 box somehow. For a cool 850 euros without a microphone, I may be crazy but I won't be doomed any time soon (or later).

How would F1 be without Lewis?

Ol' Sexy Laps.
Lewis Hamilton or Blingy as we know him here at Electric Guitars and Racing Cars has said that 2017 is his "most difficult season". Of course he is referring to the hot competition the Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel are presently throwing his way. I guess Blingy has forgotten the competition his team mate from last year dished him up when Niko Rosberg took the title away from him.
Lewis has taken pole for tomorrows race in Canada. In Blingy's words from the post qualy press conference he said "It was a sexy lap. I can't believe that it came together so well... Of course, we can't always be perfect but today I got as close as I could get.." Language Lewis, language.

News from Canada

Poo power or Mercedes power, it's all good.
Our boy Esteban and his pink buddy are sitting comfortably in the top half of the runners in P1 and P2 in Canada this weekend.

2017 DHL Fastest Lap Award.. WOW!!

Are they serreis?
I thought I would take a look at the F1 results to see how our boys, the pinkies, are doing in Practice 1 in Canada and I came across this. It all sounds a bit like a Scalextric competition. Do I really have the real Formula 1 web site or have I been hijacked?

Goin' loopy.

Da Boss.. can you handle it?
A looper pedal would seem to be a must for guitarists these days. Live I should think it could be a nightmare but for recording and especially practice it would be a great tool.

Innovatiion or simpley transformation?

See you in Nashville.
With summer on us in the US we are just a month out from Summer NAMM 17. If you don't know, NAMM is new guitar time. Twice a year (Summer and Winter) the National Association of Music Merchants present trade shows for music related manufactures to present their new wares. So perusing a hobby of mine, flicking around the online guitar sellers, I see many new guitars released to co-inside with Summer NAMM.
